How Is HXCP Made? What Is The Process?

HXC-P, also known as “hexahydrocannabiphorol” as well as “HHC-P”, is a newer cannabinoid that promises to pack a serious punch of psychoactive action.  It’s also a semi-synthesized cannabinoid.  Meaning, that unlike the majority of cannabinoids we talk about, HXC-P is a chemically modified version of an existing cannabinoid (HHC) – designed specifically to be more powerful in its effects, both intoxicating and otherwise.

Naturally, lots of people out there wanna know where HXC-P comes from before they try it.  And, as you’re about to find out, it’s a fascinating process that shows off just how far the hemp industry has come since the early days.  Not to mention, the hard work that businesses do in order to satisfy the growing demands of hemp enthusiasts across the country.

What Exactly is HXC-P?

Hexahydrocannabiphorol is a federally legal cannabinoid ultimately derived from the hemp plant.  As we said, it’s been chemically modified, essentially taking HHC and modifying its chemical structure to change the way in which it attaches to cannabinoid receptors in the brain (CB1 receptors) that produce specific nervous system responses – most notably, the receptors that are responsible for getting us high off of cannabis.

HXC-P is nontoxic, hence, the process of making it is quite scientifically sound.  It’s no more harmful than any other cannabinoid that exists in hemp, but because it can be about 10x as intoxicating as HHC, or even delta 9 THC, best to go easy with it, especially as someone who’s totally new to it.

What is the Direct Process of Making HXC-P?

We’re eager to share the process of making hexahydrocannabiphorol, not only because you will see that it’s made according to strict quality and safety standards, but also because it demonstrates the incredible scientific and technological advancements that we have witnessed in the hemp industry over the last several years.

#1: It Starts with the Best Raw Hemp Flower

First and foremost, all hemp-derived HXC-P products must begin with the absolute best raw hemp material possible.  And that’s why ideally, a company should strive to seek out raw hemp that comes from a local farm.  Think of this motto: the less it travels, the better.  Besides that, hemp farms in the United States are maintained under stricter standards than they are in many other countries, which yields a higher-quality product.

Besides being local, the raw hemp should be organic – in other words, grown according to the strict USDA standards for organic agriculture.  This means that the hemp contains zero pesticides or other known environmental toxins, so it better retains its chemical composition as a result of zero exposure to toxic farming chemicals.

#2: Isolating the HHC Compound

HXC-P is, like we just said, a modified form of HHC, which’s a naturally occurring cannabinoid in the hemp plant.  But, HHC exists in extremely trace amounts, so an isomerization process is used, which is the standard for creating a distillate of a minor cannabinoid, like HHC, delta 8 THC, THC-P, etc.

Isomerization is based on the fact that all cannabinoids originate from cannabigerol (CBG), and so they all share the same chemical composition, just arranged in a different way.  You can take cannabidiol (CBD), a very abundant cannabinoid in hemp, and rearrange its atoms to convert it into HHC.  And, that’s exactly how the majority of HHC is made.

To create a purified HHC extract, a distillate is produced, pushing steam through the material at varying temperatures and pressures to eliminate the unwanted compounds in the hemp sample, and leaving behind only pure HHC distillate.

#3: Converting HHC into HXC-P

Now comes the fun part – turning HHC into HXC-P.  This is what makes HXC-P unique from other cannabinoids, as otherwise, the process would’ve stopped at the last step.

To convert HHC into HXC-P, scientists enhance the carbon side chain of HHC.  HHC has 5 carbon atoms on its side chain, which it shares in common with delta 9 THC.  The structure of the side chain directly determines how efficiently the cannabinoid attaches to the brain’s CB1 receptors that cause psychoactive effects.  To make HXC-P, an additional 2 carbon atoms are added to HHC’s side chain, resulting in a total of 7, which dramatically enhances the cannabinoid’s ability to attach to these receptors, allowing it to be more intoxicating.

#4: Formulating HXC-P Products

Now, we have a pure HXC-P distillate, which is ready to be used to formulate products.  Gummies, vape oils, tinctures, concentrates, and even HXC-P flower all contain the cannabinoid in distillate form, along with other ingredients, as distillate is extremely easy to blend into formulas.  Keep in mind that some companies also sell pure HXC-P distillate, which again is simply the purified extract of the cannabinoid, which happens to be flavorless and odorless.

As for product types/delivery methods, HXC-P can be found in:

  • Pre-filled vape cartridges (vape carts)
  • Disposable vape pens
  • Gummies
  • Other types of edibles (fruit snacks, savory snacks, baked goods, etc.)
  • Beverages
  • Capsules
  • Dabs/concentrates
  • Tinctures

#5: Third-Party Testing

Third-party testing is crucial.  Once an HXC-P formula is complete, the manufacturer must send it off to a state-licensed third-party laboratory, where it’s tested for safety, purity, potency, and federal compliance.  These lab reports are then given back to the manufacturer, and should be displayed on their website, to offer consumers a way to verify that they’re buying the best-quality product possible.

HXC-P: A Fascinating Process That Ensures a Blissful Cannabinoid

Overall, the process of crafting hexahydrocannabiphorol is actually somewhat straightforward, and it’s evident that companies/manufacturers  really go out of their way to ensure that each step is performed as safely as possible.  Plus, if it weren’t for the incredibly innovative advancements in the cannabis industry over the last several years, enjoying HXC-P wouldn’t be possible at all.

So, now that you’re better aware on how HXC-P is made from start to finish, we encourage you to check out the variety of HXC-P products available at Binoid.  These are all made with some of the purest, lab-tested extracts on the hemp marketplace today.
