How to Read a THC-H Cannabinoid Lab Report

Tetrahydrocannabihexol (THC-H) is a cannabinoid that has only recently been introduced to the hemp market.  Although new to the industry, its high promises to be incredibly potent and gloriously gratifying.  But, whenever you buy a cannabinoid-based product, one thing that you must look for beforehand is the lab report that proves that the THC-H is authentic, pure, safe, and federally compliant.  Let’s talk about how to read a THC-H product’s lab report so you know what to be on the lookout for before making a purchase.

The Importance of Third-Party Testing

Basically, third-party-testing is one of the most important parts of running a manufacturing brand that produces THC-H products.  It’s not only standard in the industry, but also required.  Federal law (2018 Farm Bill) declares that all hemp products may only contain up to 0.3% delta 9 THC to be sold legally, and the only way for a company to verify this is by submitting batches of their hemp extracts to an unbiased, state-licensed third-party testing facility, where it’s analyzed.

Lab-testing doesn’t just exist to prove federal compliance.  It looks at all kinds of aspects of a THC-H distillate, including its purity level, as well as whether or not it’s been contaminated, to show that it’s safe for human consumption.  A company can promise that they offer the purest, safest tetrahydrocannabihexol possible, but at the end of the day, the only way to know for sure is to look at the lab report.  And, if a company isn’t making their lab reports available to customers, this is a red flag, since it usually means that there’s something about the company’s THC-H that they don’t want you to know.

How to Find the Third-Party Lab Report

Basically, a brand is supposed to make it as easy as possible for customers to find a lab report on their website.  Usually, you’ll find this lab report either in a product’s description page, or on an individual page where each lab report is listed in one location.  Each THC-H product should have its own individual lab report, so that you can find the specific product you plan to buy and learn about the tetrahydrocannabihexol distillate found within it.

Should a company not make their lab reports easy to find, you can always contact the company and ask for them.  Just know that some companies require that you scan a QR code on the physical product’s label to access that THC-H product’s lab report.

Making Sure the Lab Report is Authentic

It’s sad but true that some companies out there try to get away with publishing a fake lab report that was either doctored in Photoshop, or even copied from the lab report of another brand.  So, the first thing you should do is check for proof that a lab report is authentic.

All lab reports should contain the name of the laboratory somewhere, along with a reference number.  Initially, look up the name of the lab, to make sure that it’s a real laboratory.  If you want more assurance, you can contact the lab and give them the reference number to make sure that the report is legitimate.

What You Should Be Looking for in a Lab Report

A THC-H lab report usually consists of two documents.  The first document is a more concise overview of the breakdown of chemical compounds in the distillate, and its purity level according to the percentage (usually found at the top of the document), plus the amount of delta 9 THC in the product, as it must be no more than 0.3% according to the law.

You want to see that THC-H is clearly the dominant cannabinoid in the product, with a high purity level.  In other words, you don’t want to see that there’s only a small amount of THC-H, and that in fact another cannabinoid dominates the cannabinoid profile, unless the product is advertised that way.  Keep in mind that you’ll never see a 100% pure tetrahydrocannabihexol distillate, because they don’t exist – the process of producing a distillate means there will always be trace amounts of other cannabinoids, and that’s perfectly fine.

Then comes the longer document, and that’s where you will see a much more detailed breakdown of all kinds of factors pertaining to the product, like boxes for contaminants as well as impurities like solvents, which can reflect an inferior extraction method.  This is where you can get a better idea about the safety of the product.

Can the THCH Product Type Make a Difference?

If you come across a different lab report for each type of THC-H product, know that you will find different key pieces of information based on the formula for that product type.  Let us explain.

Vapes: Vape oils, which are found in both cartridges and disposables, are supposed to contain 100% pure hemp compounds with no other ingredients.  So, the percentage of THC-H should be very high – 85%-95% or so of the entire formula.  And, the milligram amount should be somewhere between 850mg-950mg, making up a full gram (1,000mg) cartridge.  The remaining amount should be terpenes.

Edibles: Edibles, unlike vapes, are not made up of 100% pure hemp since they contain a number of ingredients.  The number of milligrams of THC-H reported on the lab sheet should match the amount advertised.  For instance, if you have THC-H gummies that say they contain 25mg per piece, the lab report should show 25mg of THC-H.

Tinctures: The lab report of a tincture should reflect the total amount of milligrams of THC-H advertised on the product’s label, since tinctures only contain THC-H distillate and a carrier oil.

Bottom Line: The THC-H Lab Report is Critical

Ultimately, it’s a mistake to purchase a THC-H product without first looking at its lab report.  Once again, a lab report gives supplies the most unbiased information about what you’re actually buying, and even tells you just how authentic and pure the product is.  Fortunately, at Binoid, you can easily find the lab reports for all of our products through our website, to verify for yourself that you’re getting some of the purest and highest-quality tetrahydrocannabihexol possible.
