What Is Delta 9o?

It was only a matter of time before the hemp market came up with an even more reliable way to enjoy effects strikingly similar to those of delta 9 THC, all while fully complying with federal law.  Meet Δ9 THC-o or D9-THC-O-Acetate, more famously being known as “delta 9o”.

The very newest addition to the industry, delta 9o and delta9o products acts as yet another way to legally savor an absolutely spectacular high derived from the hemp plant.

What is Delta 9o?

Δ9 THC-o was produced only extremely recently.  It’s considered a semi-synthesized cannabinoid, meaning that it is naturally derived (from hemp) but chemically modified to change its chemical structure and thus its effects and properties.  Delta 9o was intentionally made to mimic delta 9 THC as identically as possible, and from what we understand, those efforts really paid off.

But, what is it, exactly?  Delta 9o acetate is simply delta 9 THC extracted from hemp which has been treated with an acetate – something you may be familiar with if you’ve read up on THC-O and HHC-O.  The addition of an acetate to the delta 9 creates an entirely new way in which the body metabolizes it, known as deacetylation, in which the acetate molecule is metabolized quickly so that all that remains in the body is delta 9, ready to absorb into the bloodstream and behave just like the more well-known cannabis compound.

This method is basically a deliberate way to work around the law, so that the body can consume delta 9 THC without actually taking delta 9 THC, from a technical standpoint.

What is the Difference Between Delta 9o and Delta 9 THC?

Equated to standard delta 9 THC, Δ9 THC-o has been acetylated, a process that reconfigures its chemical structure to make the compound better absorbable by your body.  The result: delta 9o provides increased potency over delta 9 — seemingly, an even more prominent uptick than is felt between delta 9 and conventional THC-O made with delta 8 THC.

Also is crucial to mention that delta 9 and delta 9o are inherently different based on their origins.  Delta 9 is the amplest cannabinoid in cannabis, and it’s almost regularly naturally-derived.  On the other side of the spectrum, delta 9o isn’t a natural cannabinoid and must be synthesized.  This has both benefits and drawbacks.

Delta 9o also has its own unique chemical, so regulations pertaining to THC usually don’t apply.  However, we know a lot less about delta 9o’s safety than we do about the safety of conventional THC – just something to keep in mind.

Does Delta 9o Get you High?

In theory, delta 9o’s high is no different from delta 9 THC’s.  In fact, users are already reporting anecdotal information that backs this up entirely.  Delta 9o’s high seems to be uplifting, euphoric and soothing all at the same time, while also introducing a body high that is described as deeply relaxing for the muscles.

Again, the high is said to be identical to delta 9’s, so basically, whatever you feel when you take delta 9 THC, is what you can expect from delta 9o.

Delta 9o Effects and Benefits List

  • Strong mental and body experience
  • Chilled
  • Relaxed
  • Happy
  • Anxiolytic properties
  • Relief

As we still have a lot to learn about Delta 9o acetate, what we do know is that its psychoactive properties are already making it extremely popular.  The high is often compared to Delta 8, and in fact, the two cannabinoids seem to be popular to take together, as there may be a synergistic effect that really gives you a phenomenal experience within the body and mind in terms of mood, relaxation and so on.

The key thing to know about Delta 9o high is that it is all about euphoria.  People describe a stronger feeling of euphoria than they’ve ever experienced with any other cannabinoid.  Also is potentially very-long lasting, as we are aware that many other cannabinoid-based products provide only a short phase of euphoria that doesn’t last for the duration of the high.

Also, alongside the euphoria effect, users report a uniquely powerful body high that can be intensely relaxing, and great for easing physical tension.

Delta 9o Side Effects

  • Strong mental and physical experience
  • Dry Mouth
  • Headache
  • May last for 1-2 hours
  • Powerful body experience

Taking too much Delta 9o THC, like any psychoactive compound can cause intense side effects. Again, because the compound is strong we suggest smaller dosages first then taking higher doses after time once you get comfortable with the compound and effects.

What Else is Delta 9o Capable of?

Here at Binoid, we’re always careful to talk about benefits of any cannabinoid without clinical studies that we can refer to, for ethical reasons.  That being said, there are no papers that have been published in scientific journals about the properties and effects of delta 9o, because the cannabinoid just came out, and there hasn’t been time for proper analysis by cannabis researchers.

Still, if delta 9o absorbs into the body exactly as delta 9 THC, then we can guess that all of its effects are the same, and that is what its users are saying.  So, delta 9o may be useful when it comes to managing things like physical discomfort, nausea, low appetite, neurological irregularities, negative mood, poor sleep and pretty much everything else we’ve come to associate with delta 9.

How Much Delta 9o Should I Take?

Now, let’s talk about dosage, which is always important since no one wants to take either too much or too little of any intoxicating cannabinoid.  Before we get into the recommended dosage, which, as you’ll see is the same as that of delta 9, we want to point one thing out.

Due to the unusual way in which delta 9o and Delta 9o products metabolizes, it can take twice as long before the effects kick in.  This is very important, because you may otherwise mistakenly think that delta 9o doesn’t work when it doesn’t become active quickly, and take a second dose, after which point you’ll end up twice as high as you intended to be.

Now, let’s talk about dosing.

  • Delta 9o Vapes: We recommend starting with 1 puff as a beginner, which can take 30 minutes to become effective.  You can work your way up to a few puffs per vaping session as desired and tolerated.
  • Delta 9o Gummies/Capsules: With gummies, capsules and other ingestible products, 10mg-15mg is a great starting point, although many people can tolerate 25mg or even a little bit higher very well.
  • Delta 9o Tinctures: 10mg-20mg is a great starting point if you’re taking the cannabinoid in tincture form, and you can likely work your way up to 30mg-40mg per serving if you tolerate that amount well.

Can I Overdose on Delta 9o acetate?

We completely understand that people want to avoid any harm caused by taking too much of a cannabinoid, and people may be particularly concerned if they’re unfamiliar with acetated cannabinoids.  But, when it comes to side effects and all of that, again there’s no real difference between delta 9o and delta 9 THC.

These cannabinoids are nontoxic to the body, and while you can physically tolerate high doses, you may want to avoid them because you may end up with side effects that are considered unpleasant, but not life-threatening.  Those side effects include:

  • Dizziness
  • Grogginess/drowsiness
  • Anxiety/paranoia
  • Dry eyes
  • Dry mouth
  • Confusion
  • Lack of physical coordination
  • Forgetfulness
  • Increased appetite
  • Low blood pressure

Is Delta 9o Legal?

Delta 9o is legal, for the same reason all other psychoactive cannabinoids are, with the exception of concentrations of delta 9 THC greater than 0.3%.  Delta 9o complies with the federal Farm Bill, which passed in 2018 to legalize any hemp derivative with no more than 0.3% delta 9 THC.  Delta 9o is not delta 9 THC, and so it is legal.

Yet, some states have banned intoxicating cannabinoids in something of a blanket law, and what this means is that delta 9o is likely illegal in:

  • Alaska
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Delaware
  • Hawaii (Oral and Inhalable Products)
  • Idaho
  • Iowa
  • Mississippi
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • New York
  • North Dakota
  • Oregon
  • Rhode Island
  • Utah
  • Vermont
  • Washington

Will Delta 9o Fail A Drug Test?

As a rule of thumb, any time you encounter a cannabinoid with “THC” in the name, you should assume that it puts you at risk of failing a drug test.  Why?  Because all THC-based cannabinoids are metabolized by an enzyme called THC-COOH, which is what standard drug tests are seeking to identify in a person’s urine.

Because Delta 9o is particularly potent, there’s good reason to believe that it’s actually more likely to fail a drug test after taking this cannabinoid than it is after taking delta 9 THC due to it being the acetate version. Which is technically higher absorbing.

Is Delta 9o acetate Safe?

As for the safety of delta 9o THC, again we have no studies to refer to.  But, there’s no reason to believe it’s unsafe in any way.  Delta 9o is structurally similar to many cannabinoids we’ve taken over the years, and to date, there has not been a single toxic compound found in the hemp plant, even in its isolated and concentrated form.  So, delta 9o likely comes with the same mild, temporary side effects as other forms of THC, which include:

  • Dry mouth
  • Dry eyes
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Drowsiness
  • Impaired motor function
  • Intense high

Delta 9o acetate is Coming to Binoid

Delta 9o is undoubtedly a cannabinoid that Binoid customers are looking forward to trying.  This unique hemp derivative really does stand out from the rest by promising effects identical to delta 9 THC, thanks to a clever modification of delta 9 that changes the way in which it metabolizes in the body.

Keep your eyes peeled as Binoid begins to introduce delta 9o, in all of the product types and strains that you know and love.
