7 Severe Side Effects of THCP-O

THCP-O, aka tetrahydrocannabiphorol-O Acetate or THCP-O Acetate, the new acetated version of tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THC-P), has arrived, and with it comes the promise of the most potent and long-lasting high yet.

Of course, with that powerful potency comes a slightly higher risk of certain side effects if you’re someone who has a low tolerance, or accidentally takes more than intended of this ultra-strong hemp derivative.  While THCP-O, like all cannabinoids, is not considered dangerous, but you might experience some mild side effects, especially as a beginner.

Are There Any Side Effects When Taking THCP-O?

Again, the potential side effects sorta mimic THC-P, and by going over them now, you’ll recognize what you might experience, should you take a stronger dose than what was intended initially

#1: THCP-O May Cause Dry Mouth

Dry mouth is an extremely common side effect associated with basically all psychoactive cannabinoids including THCP-O.  Also known as “cottonmouth”, it’s not actually caused by dehydration, which many mistakenly believe.  Truthfully, it’s the result of the interaction between the cannabinoid and cannabinoid receptors that control our salivary glands.  And, fortunately, it is easy to fix with a glass of water.

#2: THCP-O May Cause Dry Eyes

THCP-O compound works on cannabinoid receptors that regulate the moisture levels in our eyes, which is why it’s common for the eyes get very dry when they use certain THC cannabinoids, including this one.  The result is that your eyes may feel dry, and they might look red and a bit swollen.  Some lubricating eye drops can help a lot with this extremely common and ultimately harmless side effect.

#3: THCP-O Might Increase Your Appetite

THCP-O may cause “the munchies” just like most other forms of THC.  A lot of cannabinoids have appetite-boosting properties, and so it’s common to suddenly start feeling an urge to go through your cupboard looking for a snack to binge on.  The effect usually kicks in about halfway through your high and may last for a bit after the high has worn off.

#4: THCP-O May Make You Dizzy

A lot of people report dizziness or lightheadedness after they’ve taken more THCP-O than they intended to.  You may feel wobbly, or even nauseous, or you might just feel the need to sit down because your legs feel a little weaker than usual.  This side effect can be all the more powerful if you’ve also consumed alcohol.  Keep in mind that fainting while high on any cannabinoid is actually very rare, but if you do feel weak or unsteady, sitting or laying down is the way to go.

#5: THCP-O May Lower Your Blood Pressure

Another side effect associated with most cannabinoids is temporarily lowered blood pressure.  That can be largely responsible for the dizziness/lightheadedness that we just talked about, and also cause an increase in heartrate that’s not actually dangerous but may feel particularly unpleasant because of how much being high on THCP-O product makes us hyperaware of physical sensations.  Again, you don’t really need to do anything about this but simply wait it out.

#6: THCP-O May Cause Anxiety or Paranoia

A surprisingly common side effect associated with pretty much any psychoactive cannabis derivative like THCP-O is feeling anxiety or paranoia, caused by the cerebral effects that can become overwhelming to the user.  It’s far from unusual to suddenly feel like something is “wrong,” or become extremely self-conscious and hypervigilant.  Luckily, these feelings often pass before the high has worn off, after the cerebral effects have peaked.

#7: THCP-O May Make You Drowsy, Forgetful, and Clumsy

Grogginess, drowsiness and feeling spacy or foggy are common with psychoactive cannabinoids like THCP-O acetate, as is a feeling of clumsiness and reduced motor skills.  This can make you feel forgetful, sleepy or wobbly as you try to continue on with your regular daily routine.  Know that this is pretty much normal when you’re high on an intoxicating cannabinoid, and if you’re feeling very drowsy, there’s nothing wrong with laying down for a while, or even taking a nap.

Bottom Line: While High Doses of THCP-O May Cause Side Effects, They’re Not Considered Serious

All intoxicating substances come with a risk of side effects, and THCP-O Acetate is no different.  The good news is that there are no major life-threatening risks associated with this cannabinoid, as ultimately, like all cannabinoids, it’s considered nontoxic to the body.  That being said, go easy if it’s your first time taking THCP-O, since its potency can surprise even seasoned THC users.

And, of course, stick to high-quality THCP-O products made by a trusted brand like Binoid CBD, to avoid accidentally consuming any questionable additives that can come with their own host of unwanted side effects.
