HHC Dosage

Hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) is one of the newer cannabinoids to enter the hemp market, following in the footsteps of delta 8 THC, delta 10, THCV, and THC-O as a psychoactive cannabinoid that’s federally legal.

What we know is that each psychoactive cannabinoid in the hemp plant offers a unique type of intoxicating experience, both in terms of how potently that intoxication is, and the more specific effects associated with it.  Because of that, it’s always important for our customers to have a good idea of general dosing guidelines per each individual cannabinoid.

One thing that really stands out when it comes to HHC is that although research on its effects are quite limited at the moment, this cannabinoid has been shown to behave in a way that many of its users describe as identical to delta 9 THC.  This applies not only to the high that it produces, but all of the other properties as well.  So, what does that mean as far as HHC product dosing is concerned?

HHC Dosage vs. HHC Strength

When deciding how much hexahydrocannabinol you wish to take, there are two factors to consider that are equally important: dosage and milligram strength.

  • HHC Dosage: “Dosage” refers to the quantity of product that’s consumed.  This could be 1 gummy, 1 dropper of a tincture or 3 puffs off of a vape cartridge.
  • HHC Strength: “Strength” is milligram strength – for example, a 1000mg 30ml tincture or gummies with 25mg per piece.  It refers to the number of milligrams of pure HHC extract are in each serving, thus telling you how potent each serving will be.

HHC Dosage Guide Chart:

  1. Beginner HHC dosing (low tolerance): 5mg-12mg per use
  2. Intermediate HHC dosing (medium tolerance): 12mg-30mg per use
  3. Advanced HHC dosing (high tolerance): 30mg-60mg+ per use

This applies to HHC tinctures, HHC vapes as well as other HHC products. HHC is around 90% of the high regular Delta 9 THC will create, except with a stronger head and body experience for relief. As always, the best way to dose out HHC is to try a little, then keep increasing until you feel what you need. Product by product HHC dosing will be shown below.

How Long Does HHC Take To Work?

HHC products kick in within 20 minutes if vaped, and 1 hour if ingested through HHC gummies or HHC tinctures. Because HHC products works like any other product that you would inhale or digest. However, just like Delta 9 THC, be careful with ingestion because you might feel the need to take more when in reality it has not hit you yet. For this reason, we suggest waiting at least 2 hours before taking more HHC.

HHC Dosing Instructions

Often, you’ll find that the company that makes the hhc product has a recommended dosage chart amount somewhere on their packaging, which allows you to know how much you should take in one sitting to consume an “average” amount of HHC.  This is a good piece of information to follow when getting started, as the manufacturer knows how much of their product you should take to generally experience the desired effects. For example, Binoid has HHC dosing information on all of their HHC product packaging.

Factors That Influence How Much HHC You Might Want to Take

While there are established standard dosage guidelines for each cannabinoid, ultimately, there are many factors that need to be considered before deciding exactly how much you’re going to consume.

#1: Your Tolerance to THC

As mentioned, hexahydrocannabinol seems to behave just like delta 9, offering a high stronger than that of either delta 8 or delta 10.  You’ll want to consider your tolerance to general THC cannabinoids before deciding how much is right for you.  We always encourage new users of any cannabinoid to start slow, even if they’ve used other intoxicating cannabinoids in the past.

In other words, even if you’ve been taking delta-8 daily for months, it’s best to start with half the recommended dosage the very first time you take HHC.  But, in general, the higher your tolerance is to other intoxicating cannabinoids, the more HHC you can likely tolerate.

#2: Your HHC Delivery Method

The recommended dosage varies somewhat depending on the type of delivery method being used, whether that be sublingual, ingestible, inhalable, etc.  That’s because each delivery method has its own level of bioavailability which determines how efficiently a cannabinoid absorbs into the body to become effective.

For example, vapes are more bioavailable than tinctures, and therefore more potent.  So, a person may want to consume fewer milligrams of a vape than they would a tincture.

#3: Your Comfort Level

Since hexahydrocannabinol is quite psychoactive, how much you should take also depends on how comfortable you are with its intoxicating effects.  You might not want to get too high because you’re more comfortable with a mild buzz, in which case you would want to stick to a dosage amount on the lower side of things.

#4: Your Plans

Due to hexahydrocannabinol being intoxicating, you should never drive, operate heavy machinery, or go to work while under the influence of it.  Therefore, how much HHC you should consume may be determined by what type of activity you’ll be engaging in.  Most of us feel more comfortable consuming a higher dose when we have nothing to do but sit on the couch and watch movies, compared to having to run several errands later on.

#5: The Strain Type

Certain types of HHC products – especially vapes – come in a variety of strains since they contain terpene profiles taken from the hemp plant.  Some strains are more potently intoxicating than others due to synergistic effects caused by pairing hexahydrocannabinol with specific terpenes.  Best to look up a strain before choosing it to know ahead of time how potent the high associated with it may be.

HHC Dosage According To Delivery Method

The dosing guidelines for HHC will vary depending on the HHC product type that you’re using.  Why?  Because like we said earlier, each delivery method has its own level of bioavailability that influences how strong a dosage will be.

#1: HHC Vape Cartridge

HHC vape cartridges are very bioavailable, and therefore they take effect within minutes, offer very potent effects and last for no more than a couple of hours.  Since the carts offered at Binoid offer a full milliliter of 100% hemp, each cartridge contains 1000mg (1 gram) of vape oil.

It’s hard to determine how many milligrams are in each puff, since how deeply one inhales can vary dramatically from person to person.  Also, the wattage of your vape battery determines how much vapor is produced each time a puff is taken.  This is why the standard dosage is determined by the number of puffs rather than the number of milligrams.

Threshold Dose: 1 small puff

Psychoactive Dose: 1-2 puffs

Very Psychoactive Dose: 3+ puffs

#2: HHC Disposable

HHC disposable vapes are all-in-one vaping systems that can be used as soon as they come out of the box since they don’t need to be charged, assembled or filled with vape oil.  HHC disposable vapes are no different than vape cartridges aside from their technology.  What this means is that the dosing guidelines are the same as vape carts.

Threshold Dose: 1 small puff

Psychoactive Dose: 1-2 puffs

Very Psychoactive Dose: 3+ puffs

#3: HHC Tincture

Dosing with HHC tinctures is incredibly easy because the dropper cap allows you to grab the perfect amount of oil to know how much you’re consuming per dose.  A 1000mg 30ml HHC tincture contains about 33 milligrams per dropper, and 33mg is standard for both CBD and delta 8 tinctures.  But, hexahydrocannabinol is a more potent psychoactive, which is why the standard amount is less than a full dropper for most individuals.

Threshold Dose: 8.25mg (1/4 of a dropper)

Psychoactive Dose: 16.5mg (1/2 of a dropper)

Very Psychoactive Dose: 33mg (1 full dropper)

#4: HHC Gummies

HHC gummies are also very easy to dose because each individual gummy contains the same exact number of milligrams of hexahydrocannabinol.  Basically, you can control your dose by simply deciding how much of a gummy, or how many gummies, you will consume.

Threshold Dose: 5mg

Psychoactive Dose: 6-15mg

Very Psychoactive Dose: 16mg+

#5: HHC Dabs

HHC dabs are concentrates that are specifically made to be extremely potent.  In short, this means that they are not intended for newbies.  HHC dabs should only be used when someone has built up a good tolerance to the psychoactive effects of hexahydrocannabinol, coupled with feeling that they’re ready for something stronger.  The dosage guidelines above assume that the user does have a high tolerance to the effects of HHC.

Since dabs are flash-vaporized, and contain 100% pure hemp, again we determine dosage by puffs rather than milligrams.

Threshold Dose: 1 small puff

Psychoactive Dose: 1-2 puffs

Very Psychoactive Dose: 3+ puffs

Enjoy the Perfect Amount of HHC for Your Unique Needs

Hexahydrocannabinol is an exciting addition to the hemp market, and to ensure the most enjoyable experience with the cannabinoid, you’ll want to be very mindful of how much you’re consuming.  While the cannabinoid is nontoxic to the body, consuming too much can make you feel too intoxicated if your tolerance is low.

Consuming too low of a dose, on the other hand, means that you may be missing out on what the cannabinoid is really capable of.  At Binoid, we want you to enjoy just the right amount of HHC to feel thoroughly satisfied. That is why their HHC vape cartridges and other products are the best on the market!
