HXC-P vs THC-B: Which Cannabinoid is Better?

Two of the newer cannabinoids to emerge on the hemp market are HXC-P and THC-B – two derivatives of the same plant, which sound similar enough on the surface, until you look more closely.  In actuality, these cannabinoids have very different properties from one another, and perhaps most importantly, their highs are quite distinctive.

Given the fact that so many people are eager to experiment with the growing number of new, psychoactive cannabinoids hitting the market, we’re going to compare these two so that you have an idea of what to expect from each one.

Why Choose HXC-P?

HXC-P Origins

Hexahydrocannabiphorol, often called HXC-P, refers to a semi-synthesized cannabinoid that’s been on the market for less than one year.  It does not naturally exist in the hemp plant, but rather it’s a semi-synthesized cannabinoid that comes from modifying HXC, or hexahydrocannabinol, which does naturally exist in raw hemp.  HXC’s effects are almost identical to the effects of delta 9 THC because it’s a hydrogenated analog of d9, and HXC-P is produced through adding 2 carbon atoms to its alkyl side chain, to allow it to attach to CB1 receptors in the brain much more effectively for what are far more powerful effects.

HXC-P’s Psychoactive Properties

With HXC-P, you’re in for a potent high, as the cannabinoid was specifically invented to act as a more powerful version of HXC.  In fact, it’s one of the most intoxicating cannabinoids on the market, by far.  And, some say that it’s more powerful than THC-P, which is considered the most powerful naturally occurring cannabinoid of all.  It’s been said that HXC-P is a whopping 10 times as intoxicating as traditional HXC, and those who do use it say the high is deeply euphoric.

HXC-P’s Non-Psychoactive Properties

HXC-P is so new of a development in the cannabis world that clinical researchers haven’t had time to study it for potential clinical uses – yet.  What we do know is that HXC-P is ultimately just a stronger version of HXC, and so it’s likely that whatever benefits you may notice when you take HXC, you’ll notice more strongly when you take HXC-P. HXC almost exactly mimics delta 9’s possible benefits, which many avid users will gladly back up, so HXC-P would simply offer those potential benefits even more strongly.

Purpose for Taking HXC-P

HXC-P is known for its euphoric and intensely powerful high, and so its recreational value is the most common reason for being interested in trying it.

HXC-P’s Legality

HXC-P is a cannabinoid that’s federally legal, because it fully complies with the 2018 Farm Bill, which determined that all hemp derivatives are legal as long as they contain no more than 0.3% delta 9 THC.  But, 19 states have decided to prohibit all psychoactive cannabinoids, and because HXC-P falls into that category, it’s banned in:

  • Alaska
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Delaware
  • Hawaii
  • Idaho
  • Iowa
  • Maryland
  • Mississippi
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • New York
  • North Dakota
  • Oregon
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Utah
  • Washington

Why Choose THC-B?

THC-B Origins

Tetrahydrocannabutol, aka THC-B, was discovered only within the last couple of years, and as you may have imagined, we don’t really have a lot of in-depth information about it.  In terms of its structure, we do know that it has a butol side chain (hence the name) rather than the pentyl side chain that dictates the structure of delta 9 THC.  We do know that the cannabinoid exists only in very trace amounts in hemp.

THC-B’s Psychoactive Properties

THC-B’s high is something that researchers are still trying to work out, because it’s so new that few people have been able to provide even anecdotal data about it, and research on it is basically non-existent.  We do know that it’s psychoactive, because it attaches to CB1 receptors that create a high, and while some say that the high is identical to delta 9’s, others say that it’s more potently psychoactive, although we do know that it’s not the most intoxicating cannabinoid in hemp.

THC-B’s Non-Psychoactive Properties

THC-B is so new that researchers haven’t had opportunities to gather clinical data on its properties.  Hopefully, that changes so that we can learn more about what THC-B can offer us beyond getting us high.

Purpose for Taking THC-B

THC-B is considered a recreational cannabinoid, given its psychoactive qualities, but it likely has value as a potential therapeutic as well.

THC-B’s Legality

Like HXC-P, THC-B is a federally legal cannabinoid under the 2018 Farm Bill.  But, again, although THC-B is federally legal, some states have banned it:

  • Alaska
  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Delaware
  • Hawaii
  • Idaho
  • Iowa
  • Maryland
  • Mississippi
  • Montana
  • Nevada
  • New York
  • North Dakota
  • Oregon
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont
  • Utah
  • Washington

Final Decision: HXC-P and THC-B – Two New, and Ultimately Uniquely Valuable Cannabinoids

HXC-P and THC-B each offer psychoactive effects as well as promise when it comes to potential benefits, but as you can see, they’re quite unique from one another.  And, at the end of the day, we know more about HXC-P’s high than we do THC-B’s, as HXC-P has been available on the market for longer.  Still, if you’re a cannabinoid adventurer, we strongly recommend trying both at Binoid, and comparing them for yourself.
