What Happens If You Take Too Much THC-JD

THC-JD is a fairly new discovery as far as cannabinoids are concerned, and it’s already a very sought-after hemp derivative on the market thanks to its powerful high that can be incredibly blissful.  It’s available in all kinds of product forms, and while THC-JD is nontoxic like any other cannabinoid, it’s always possible to get too high.

But, is that actually dangerous?  Luckily, no, although you might experience some side effects that we’d like to discuss so you know what may occur.

THC-JD: The Basics

THC-JD is tetrahydrocannabioctyl, one of the more intoxicating cannabinoids in cannabis.  We don’t know exactly how intoxicating it is, but we do know that it’s significantly stronger than delta 9 THC, which means that it’s probably not the most beginner-friendly hemp derivative.  THC-JD was discovered sometime in the last couple of years.

Is it Dangerous to Take Too Much THC-JD?

The good news is that when it comes to THC-JD and all cannabinoids, no one has ever experienced a fatal overdose, nor any kind of real danger.  Cannabinoids are known to be nontoxic to humans, and are not responsible for causing life-threatening symptoms.  And, no one has ever experienced permanent damage to their health because they took too much of a cannabinoid.  So, thankfully, you don’t have to worry about that.  But still, there’s a risk of side effects if you take too much THC-JD, or any cannabinoid for that matter, which are going to be short-lived and mild overall.

Common Ways to Take Too Much THC-JD

When we talk about taking too much THC-JD, we want to point out that there are a few ways in which you may end up taking in more of the cannabinoid than what a person’s body is prepared for.  Let’s dive deeper now.

Too High of a THC-JD Dose

Of course, it’s very common for someone to simply consume a larger dose than what’s recommended.  This is why we always stress the importance of reading the label of the THCjd product, where you’ll find dosing instructions.

Not Knowing Your Tolerance

If you generally have a lower tolerance to THC, because of inexperience or naturally tolerating lower amounts than the average person, then even a standard dose may be too high for you.  If you know that you have a low tolerance, maybe try just half the recommended amount of THC-JD instead of a full dose.

Dabbing THCJD

Dabbing is the process of vaping concentrates, and concentrates are known to be extremely potent – after all, it’s in the name.  Unless you have a high tolerance to THC-JD compounds, avoid dabbing, since the effects can be overwhelming for beginners.

Taking THCJD Edibles

Some people happen to be more sensitive to edibles than other product types.  Edibles also create the longest-lasting effects, so any possible side effects that come from taking too much could last longer than what you were prepared for.

THC-JD edibles produce different effects from other products, because ingesting cannabinoids allow the liver to release metabolites that enter the bloodstream and behave differently from the cannabinoid itself.  People can be more likely to develop paranoia when ingesting a cannabinoid.

What Happens if You Take Too Much THC-JD?

Now that we know that taking too much THC-JD isn’t actually life-threatening, let’s go over the side effects that can occur, so you can know what sorts of side effects may come up.

You Might Feel Anxious and/or Paranoid

Getting too high commonly causes anxiety and paranoia in certain people, and this is true of any intoxicating cannabinoid.  Scientists still don’t fully know why this side effect occurs in some people more than others, but it has to do with THC’s effects on neurochemicals that dictate our mental state.

You Might Feel Lightheaded and Get “Green Out”

Some people talk about “green out” when they get too high, and that’s caused by a drop in blood sugar that results from taking too much of any form of THC-JD.  This can cause you to experience dizziness, lightheadedness, weakness, and an increased heartrate.  Again, this isn’t actually putting you in real danger, so your best bet is to lay down and take it easy until the feeling passes.

You Might Get Cottonmouth and Bloodshot Eyes

Two of the most well-known side effects of most cannabinoids including THC-JD are cottonmouth (excessively dry mouth) and bloodshot eyes, and neither of these side effects last beyond a few hours.

You Might Feel Sleepy/Sluggish

A lot of cannabinoids are known to cause drowsiness or sleepiness, and for some people, that can actually be helpful, if they’re taking cannabinoids at bedtime for sleep.  Just keep in mind that you might be a bit sluggish or lethargic, until the high wears off.

You May Get the Shakes

It’s quite rare, but you might get the shakes from taking too much THC-JD.  This is not actually cause for medical attention, but the nervous system reacting to the effects of cannabinoids.

You Might Become Forgetful

When you’re too high, it can be hard to concentrate or remain alert, and you may find that you’re forgetting things that were in your mind just a couple of seconds ago, struggling to retain your thoughts and focus.

Is There Anything You Can Do if You’re Too High?

As it turns out, there are some methods that people swear by to reduce the intensity of the psychoactive effects that come from taking intoxicating cannabinoids.

  • Wait it Out: The simplest solution is to just give it a few hours until the high is past its peak, at which point it naturally starts to dissipate.  Just remind yourself that you’re not in any real danger, and relax.
  • Drink Some Coffee: The synergistic relationship between caffeine and THC means that a cup of coffee could help you feel more like yourself when you’re too high.
  • Consume Some Citrus: Some people swear that fresh citrus helps when they’re too high, thanks to the limonene in citrus fruit.  Limonene is a terpene that can subdue the heavier effects of THC.
  • Take Some CBD: CBD is known to balance out the stronger effects of THC, as the two cannabinoids share a close synergistic relationship with one another.

THC-JD: Probably Mild in its Effects, But Still Possible to Get Too High Off of

Ultimately, you can take as much THC-JD as you want and not worry about any life-threatening effects.  But, most people want to avoid getting too high, because even the mild side effects can be unpleasant.  The best thing you can do is stick to the recommended dosage on the label of the THC-JD product, take your tolerance into account, and know that if side effects do come up, you’re going to be just fine in a few hours at most.
