THC-JD: Where’s It Legal? A State-by-State List

Right now, Binoid is getting ready to launch products containing THC-JD, a newly discovered cannabinoid that offers a psychoactive high more powerful than delta 9 THC.  But, as is always the case, you can’t assume that it’s legal in all 50 states, given the fact that each state is free to write up their own laws regarding the legality of the hemp plant.  We know that certain intoxicating cannabinoids have been banned in a handful of states, so let’s see how each state feels about THC-JD.

Yes, THC-JD is federally legal, just like all other THC compounds that have hit the market in recent times.  We have the U.S. 2018 Farm Bill to thank, since this piece of legislation was able to legalize all hemp derivatives that contain a maximum of 0.3% delta 9 THC by dry weight.  THC-JD and delta 9 THC are two different components of the hemp plant, and so THC-JD is fully legal throughout the country with no restrictions other than requiring that a person is a legal adult in order to purchase THCjd products.

Some states are not as thrilled about the new psychoactive hemp derivatives as we are.  As a rule of thumb, it should be assumed that in any state that has banned delta 8 THC, THC-JD, and all intoxicating hemp derivatives for that matter, are also illegal.

Please keep in mind that while we offer the most up-to-date information about legality from state to state, these laws can change at any time.  Right now, there are other states on the list that are pushing to prohibit certain hemp cannabinoids, and if these laws pass, then your state may prohibit THC-JD in the near future.  This is why you should periodically check to see where your state stands when it comes to hemp laws.

Guide for Using THC-JD Legally

None of us want to get in trouble for taking THC-JD products, so here are some tips to make sure that you’re using it in a way that’s 100% compliant with both your state and federal laws.

#1: Make Sure Your State Allows it

Like we said before, always check back to see if your state still permits the use of intoxicating hemp derivatives like THC-JD, because these laws can change without you realizing it.

#2: Ensure That It’s Hemp-Derived

Always make sure that the THC-JD you’re buying comes from the hemp plant and not the marijuana plant, as marijuana derivatives are strictly prohibited under federal law.  Of course, if you live in a state where marijuana use is permitted recreationally, then you can take marijuana-derived THC-JD if your state permits it.

#3: Look for a Lab Analysis

Always look at the third-party lab reports that should come with any THC-JD product.  Here is where you’ll be able to verify for yourself that the THC-JD product is compliant with the law by containing a maximum of 0.3% delta 9 THC.

#4: Be Aware of Where and When You Use It

Even if THC-JD is fully legal in your state, there may be laws prohibiting where you can use certain products – for instance, vaping THC-JD in a public building is likely to be illegal where you live.

Still, once again, in states where psychoactive cannabinoids have been banned, you’ll have a hard time getting your hands on this new cannabinoid.  Even though most of the states that have banned these cannabinoids only enforce sales rather than possession, you won’t have an easy time finding a business either locally or online that will be able to sell THC-JD to you.
