When it comes to this new wave of psychoactive cannabinoids that are taking over the market, it can be overwhelming if you lack the basic knowledge of how each one is unique. Three cannabinoids that are the newest of the bunch are tetrahydrocannabihexol (THC-H), tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THC-P), and Δ9-THCjd. These are all, ultimately, derivatives of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) that share a lot in common, but with some key differences you should know ahead of time.

THC-P
Origin
Tetrahydrocannabiphorol is a cannabinoid that was discovered in late 2019 by a group of cannabis researchers in Italy. THC-P is extremely new, which means that we’re still learning a lot about it. This compound makes up an incredibly tiny amount of the hemp plant’s cannabinoid profile, which is why it was only discovered very recently, by accident during a chromatographic analysis of the plant’s chemical composition.
Psychoactive Effects
There is only one study on tetrahydrocannabiphorol to date, and it was performed by the same researchers who first discovered it. This study shows us that THC-P attaches itself to CB1 receptors at about 31x the rate of delta 9 THC. In short, this means that THC-P could very well be the most psychoactive cannabinoid that naturally occurs in the hemp plant, leading to a profound high.
So, what’s the high like? Well, you’ll have to ask the people who have already taken THC-P. Overall, it seems to have somewhat of a balanced effect between euphoria and relaxation, quite like a hybrid strain. People notice uplifting effects and a soothing body high, and a mellowing effect on mind and mental activity. Also, some users suggest it doesn’t cause paranoia like high doses of delta 9 THC.
Non-Psychoactive Effects
Tetrahydrocannabiphorol is the only cannabinoid that we’re discussing today that does have known non-psychoactive effects. Because it was discovered first, researchers have had a chance to analyze its properties beyond how high it can get the user. That being said, it was noted that THC-P seems to offer similar properties to delta 9 THC, only stronger, including:
- Effects on Physical Discomfort: It seems that THC-P follows in the footsteps of many other cannabinoids by offering analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties to both reduce pain sensitivity through the nervous system, and reduce inflammation that is responsible for many types of pain.
- Effects on Mood: THC-P may offer effects on mood that keep it regulated by binding to CB1 receptors that maintain neurotransmitter balance.
- Effects on Nausea: THC-P has been shown to offer antiemetic properties that may help some people with nausea.
- Effects on Appetite: THC-P may also increase appetite, which is something that it would share in common with many cannabinoids including delta 8 THC, CBD and delta 9 THC.
THC-H
Origin
Tetrahydrocannabihexol is a brand-new discovery, which was isolated in 2020 by the same team that discovered THC-P just months earlier. Like THC-P, THC-H is present in incredibly trace levels within the plant’s chemical composition. Because it’s newer than THC-P, we know even less about it overall.
Psychoactive Effects
Tetrahydrocannabihexol is completely new, as we said earlier, so we’re still learning more about it. We know that it’s highly psychoactive, and early reports suggest it may be the second most intoxicating cannabinoid after THC-P, but that may change now that THCHjd has entered the picture, as you’ll soon learn more about.
Overall, THC-H is noted, by those who have tried it, as an amazingly uplifting cannabinoid. It seems to deliver profound feelings of euphoria, more so than other cannabinoids observed thus far. Also seems to bring about a strong body high which could trigger couchlock. So, you’ll need to keep that in mind if planning on using it during the daytime, when you are hoping to get some stuff done.
Non-Psychoactive Effects
As for the other properties of tetrahydrocannabihexol, those remain yet to be observed. The researchers that discovered THC-H did so only a year ago, and that means that they haven’t had time to fully analyze it for its properties that relate to the mind and body outside of getting the user high. Because THC-H is a cannabinoid, we know it works with the body’s endocannabinoid system to regulate specific bodily responses. Also, because it feeds CB1 receptors in the nervous system, hence its intoxicating qualities, it likely provides distinctive effects in the body’s nervous system, that we just aren’t aware of quite yet.
THCHjd
Origin
Then there is Δ9-THCjd, the newest of these three cannabinoids, which is the one that we know the least about, understandably. We know that it’s a natural cannabinoid in hemp that may be the most trace to date, and we know little else outside of effects recorded anecdotally by its users.
Psychoactive Effects
What’s most described about Δ9-THCjd is naturally its high, which may be up to 19 times as potent as delta 9 THC – quite impressive, to say the least. Further, what we’ve heard thus far is that THCHjd seems to yield a powerful indica-like effect complete with full couchlock and a very mellowing impact on mood and overall state of mind. It would therefore likely be more suitable at nighttime, as it may be a “sleepy” cannabinoid that can greatly interfere with the more active parts of one’s day.
Non-Psychoactive Effects
As of now, there is zero knowledge on the cannabinoid’s non-intoxicating effects. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t any. It’s still a naturally occurring cannabinoid after all, which clearly has a role in managing cannabinoid receptors found in the nervous system, since the cannabinoid interacts with the nervous system’s CB1 receptors to trigger a psychoactive response. As researchers analyze it more, we’ll know more about its physiological effects.
Choosing the Best Cannabinoid for Your Specific Needs
Overall, there is no reason why you simply can’t experiment with each one and see which you like best. That’s the beauty of cannabinoids, as they’re nontoxic and generally well tolerated by the body. However, before using these compounds, it’s best to speak with your doctor first, as they have access to your medical history, especially if you’re on any prescription medications.
Currently at Binoid, we only carry THC-P , THC-H and THC-JD for the time-being.
