THCM (11-Nor-Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol-9-Carboxylic Acid {Carboxy-THC}) is a byproduct of cannabis first discovered in 1997.  It hasn’t ever been isolated in the cannabis plant, meaning that technically, there’s no proof that it even exists in raw cannabis.  Rather, it has been identified in cannabis smoke, and is used as a biomarker to confirm that a fetus has been exposed to cannabis during their time in the womb.

Delta 3, also called delta 6a10A THC, is a semi-synthesized cannabinoid that’s made to mimic a naturally occurring THC byproduct that exists in cannabis.  What makes delta 3 different from most forms of THC is that its psychoactive effects are said to be extremely mild, even more so than delta 8 THC, which is a cannabinoid that’s 30% milder than delta 9.  And, that’s because of its distinctive chemical structure in terms of the arrangement of its atoms, that have components that work as a CB1 antagonist, meaning that the cannabinoid doesn’t attach to cannabinoid receptors in the brain as strongly as other THC isomers.

Delta 3 THC is federally legal like THCM, because it complies with 2018 Farm Bill.  But, since it’s another form of THC, it’s banned in the same states as THCM.
