What Is HHCP-O Cannabinoid? What You Must Know

HHCP-O (Hexahydrocannabiphorol-Acetate)

HHCP-O is the acetate version of HHC-P (hexahydrocannabiphorol).  HHC-P is already a chemically modified form of HHC (hexahydrocannabiphorol), which is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in the seeds and pollen of hemp, mimicking delta 9’s effects as its hydrogenated and ultra-stable analog.  HHC-P was developed to be 10 times as strong as HHC, offering something similar to THC-P (tetrahydrocannabiphorol) by enhancing the carbon side chain of hexahydrocannabinol.  HHCP-O enhances HHC-P’s potency further with the addition of an acetate, which enables it to attach more effectively to the brain’s CB1 receptors that are associated with intoxication via cannabinoids.

Can HHCP-O Get Me High?

HHCP-O is intoxicating – it may actually be the most intoxicating cannabinoid so far.  HHCP-O is likely more intoxicating than HHC-P or THC-P, but how much more intoxicating remains unclear – for now.  As for what the high feels like, that’s also not fully clear yet, but we can imagine it’s a lot like HHC-P, just stronger.

Does HHCP-O Have Any Potential Benefits?

As you can imagine, HHCP-O is such a new development that there aren’t even any studies about its potential benefits.  In fact, the same is true of HHC, aka traditional hexahydrocannabinol, because HHC has only been around for a couple of years.

But, there’s been enough similarities to HHC and THC-P to give us a good idea of what kinds of possible benefits it could offer.  After all, HHC is delta 9’s hydrogenated twin cannabinoid, and so HHCP-O would just concentrate those effects strongly.  These potential benefits include:

• Anxiolytic effects
• Mood-boosting effects

What Kinds of HHCP-O Products are on the Market?

As of now, we have yet to see any HHCP-O products on the market.  That is going to change soon, however, as demand for cannabinoid is growing fast, and manufacturers are developing new formulas to offer it to consumers.  

Given the fact that HHCP-O, like all cannabinoids, can exist in distillate form, the cannabinoid can be used to produce any formula that we’re already familiar with – gummies, tinctures, flower, concentrates, and so on.  But, expect HHCP-O vapes to arrive first, including vape carts and disposables, in a variety of strains.

Is HHCP-O Actually Legal?

HHCP-O is a legal cannabinoid under federal law because it does comply with the 2018 Farm Bill, which federally legalized all hemp derivatives that contain a maximum of 0.3% delta 9 THC.  However, within the last couple of years, several states have decided to make all intoxicating cannabinoids illegal.  This means that HHCP-O is almost definitely considered illegal in:

Can I Get Side Effects from HHCP-O?

No hemp-derived cannabinoids have ever been found to be toxic or dangerous in any way, but at the same time, there are always going to be some potential side effects.  Side effects associated with cannabinoids are mild and short-lived, and include:

• Dry mouth
• Dry eyes
• Reduced blood pressure
• Paranoia/anxiety 
• Increased appetite
• Grogginess/drowsiness
• Confusion

We don’t know if HHCP-O may cause any of these side effects, but as they’re associated with basically all other cannabinoids out there, it’s best to go ahead and assume that they’re a possibility.  And, as is always the case, the potential for side effects is largely related to how much you take, and what your tolerance is to cannabis.
