With more research going into the hemp plant than ever before, the world of hemp-derived psychoactive cannabinoids is ever-expanding and evolving. Now, we have hexahydrocannabiphorol (HHC-P), the most psychoactive form of HHC, on par with tetrahydrocannabiphorol (THC-P) in terms of its potency. If you’re interested in trying HHC-P, you will need to have a good idea of what to expect beforehand in terms of its effects.
So, let’s compare HHC-P to delta 8 THC, one of the more well-known cannabinoids, to find out what the two cannabinoids share in common, and where they differ.
HHC-P is the newest cannabinoid on the market, and it was specially created to be an extremely potent form of HHC-P, sort of on par with THC-P. It’s semi-synthesized through an isomerization process, rearranging CBD’s molecules to create a cannabinoid that offers stronger interaction with CB1 receptors in the brain. HHC-P does not naturally occur in the hemp plant.
Like we said, HHC-P is more potent than traditional HHC-P, and so it’s increasingly powerful than delta 8. It’s estimated that HHC-P is 10x more intoxicating than HHC, if not more. We actually don’t know a lot about HHC’s high since the cannabinoid is too new, but we have heard reports of it being extremely euphoric.
As for the potential therapeutic properties of HHC-P, those have yet to be determined. Again, because it’s such a new cannabinoid, researchers just haven’t tested its effects yet beyond its psychoactive potential. But, given the fact that HHC-P is essentially HHC that’s 10x or so more potent, it’s safe to guess that it likely has an effect on things like physical discomfort, nausea, appetite and mood. It’s obvious that HHC-P’s main selling point is its intense high that can be extremely gratifying to fans of psychoactive cannabinoids. But, because HHC-P likely offers stronger versions of all of HHC’s effects, people may seek it out to see if it offers more of a significant impact on certain symptoms like nausea, muscle tension, stress, etc.
Because of the 2018 Farm Bill, HHC-P is a fully legal cannabinoid, at least under federal law. The law says that hemp products are legal to sell and purchase as long as they contain a maximum of 0.3% delta 9 by dry weight. While HHC-P is fully legal federally, some states have banned intoxicating cannabinoids. While no state has singled out HHC-P, it’s safe to assume that the cannabinoid is prohibited in:
Delta 8 is a minor cannabinoid that naturally occurs in hemp, making up about 0.1% of the plant’s chemical composition. Delta 8 is the result of oxidized delta 9, which takes place as the plant ages.
Delta 8 is a lot milder than HHC-P when it comes to its psychoactive properties. Delta 8 is about 30% milder than delta 9 THC, while HHC-P may be around 10x stronger. So, if you’re looking for a mellower high, delta 8 may be right for you. Besides that, people often report that delta 8 is more mellowing than other cannabinoids, while providing an alert, clear-minded effect.
